Unlock! have a range of adventures ready for you to grab a group of friends and start your adventure. You may remember our previous review of Unlock! Escape Adventures. We had such great fun, we asked for a second box to review as part of the Blogger Board Game Club.
Escape rooms are becoming ever more popular and its easy to see why once you have had your first experience.
Unlock! from Space Cowboys is just a perfect way of an ‘escape room‘ experience, in the comfort of your own home.

Grab friends together, or accept the challenge and play by yourself, it is a game not to be missed.
Unlock! is a cooperative card game inspired by escape rooms that uses a simple system which allows you to search scenes, combine objects, and solve riddles.
Embark on great adventures, while seated at a table using only cards and a free companion app that can provide clues, check codes, monitor time remaining, etc.
So after opening the app on my phone I then selected Mystery Adventures, which then asks me which card set I would like to play. We first started with the easiest level and we were ready to play.

HOW TO PLAY UNLOCK! MYSTERY ADVENTURES
Unlock! Mystery Adventures includes three separate scenarios for you to explore, The House on The Hill, The Nautilus’ Traps & The Tonipals Treasure. Within the box includes a tutorial so you can make sure you fully understand the rules of the game before starting. I would advise you to do this, as it gives you all the rules of the game to be learnt within 10 minutes.
Each game consists of sixty cards depicting objects, maps, and puzzles that can be activated, solved, or combined in an effort to access other cards and areas.
The free app Unlock! which is available on the app store, tracks the time through the game, you are given one hour to complete each escape room.
The app is not just a timer, it is your companion through the game, it can offer you hints if you need it, it is also used as part of the game for completing puzzles, which when correctly completed will then give you clues to continue with the game.
In order to progress through the deck, you must examine the cards and figure out how they interact with each other and with the app.
Some cards have blue or red strips along the top followed with a puzzle pieces, which could represent that they, just might, link together.
But some will not, and if they link together, you will add the digits represented on the card such as 24 & 50 then add these and pull card 74 from the deck of cards, which will then reveal your next clue, and if the two clues you are piecing together are incorrect, then you will be given a penalty and lose time from your clock.
The game continues, it may sound easy, but how wrong could you be. We have found even the simplest of game from the pack rated as the easiest difficulty level to be rather challenging and have had to use the hint option to help us, but once seeing the hint you do think ‘oh yes, of course!’.
MORE ABOUT UNLOCK!
When the players believe they have figured out the code to escape each adventure, they will input the number into the app and escape the danger, or if incorrect you will be given a penalty such as loose 2 minutes from the clock for example.
If you complete the game in enough time, you will be presented with a rating. Your rating will be determined by your use of hints, incorrect guesses, and the duration of your game.
Every play of the game will get you closer and closer to that perfect run and a five-star score. Do not dismiss your defeats, your mistakes may just be the key to your success the next time around!
OUR THOUGHTS
The Unlock! Mystery Adventures game is suited 2 to 6 Players but it would make a great challenge as a single player too. Great challenging game suited for ages 10+, perfect for adults.
We have played this over the festive period and all the family have loved to be involved searching for clues and solutions.
