Casting Spells with a New Wand
Grace found her new wand this week and was casting spells as we waited for the bus to arrive. Shes a big Harry Potter fan, we are reading through the books for bed time stories.
Funnily enough Grandad Al and I where out with friends celebrating their birthdays last night. We was having a major catch up and putting the worlds to rights as we do. We got talking about gangs, guns and knives. When we was younger if we wanted a gun we found a stick, if we wanted a sword we found a stick, if we wanted a bow and arrow we found two sticks and a bit of string! Now they have real guns and knives at such a young age.
Read the news and some poor kids has been stabbed or shot. They say it is because there is nothing for them to do to distract them and keep them on the straight and narrow, well I grew up on in a little village. It had two shops and six pubs – that’s it. Nothing at all for the younger ones to do, but we didn’t go around stabbing and shooting people! Yes, there was different groups – I’m not going to call them gangs as they certainly were not like today’s gangs. – we never thought about stabbing or shooting anyone, we just talked and walked around or sat on the steps of an old building or on the rec (what we called the play ground where the swing (yes one swing) and slide where.) What about you?
Sorry Grace this was meant to be about your fun play, we love your imagination.

This is so cute! I love it when kids use their magic! hehe
A gorgeous photo. Love the wand.
Yes, we spent most of our time hanging out in groups as there was nowhere to go in a small town like ours. It never occurred to us to carry anything or intend to harm anyone, ever.
Beautiful 🙂
What a beautiful photo – makes me smile just looking
