Giveaway: Sugru – The Mouldable Glue

Sugru Review Family Clan

What is Sugru

Sugru is the world’s first mouldable glue that sticks to almost anything and turns into a strong and flexible rubber overnight.

It is made to stick to as many materials as possible forming a strong bond to aluminium, steel, ceramics, glass, wood and other materials including some plastics and rubbers.

Invented for people looking to create, repair and improve their stuff. It’s used by people in over 170 countries. Handy for any number of small DIY projects.

Sugru’s durable cured properties mean it’ll stay strong and securely bonded anywhere from the freezer to a hot shower, from the garden to the great outdoors.

Sugru’s new Family-Safe, Skin-Friendly Formula also means that children as young as eight years old can use it to fix and redesign their things without adult supervision. It is advised that any children below the age of eight should be supervised by an adult when using the new formula.

Sugru’s name derives from the Irish word for ‘play’ and is available in lots of different colors which can be blended to make any color you like.

Fixing is good

Instead of buying new stuff all the time, Sugru believe in using your imagination to fix, improve and reimagine the things we already have.

So if it’s broken, fix it.
If it’s not broken, improve it.
And if it doesn’t exist, make it.

I totally agree with this statement says! I have a set of 3 copper bottom pans that wasn’t cheap and bought a good few years ago, and I have only gone and broke the knob on the smaller pan lid by dropping it accidentally on the floor!

Believe it or not I’ve chucked the knob away only recently thinking it was unfixable, Sugru would have solved this problem!

Well after no longer having the knob, but I’m always using the pan I decided to take matters into my own hands, with the kids to help and create our very own knew knob for our pan lid using Sugru!

So I let the kids choose the colors, and they chose black and yellow to use, as the original lid was black and gold, so they wanted to choose 2 colors alike to the original.

After selecting the Sugru colored packs, we then open it by using the tears along the side, this is an image of what it looks like when opened. Sugru feels very similar to play-dough, so we took it out the packet and made into a circle shape around the lid.

The next clever idea came from Jake, thinking what we could use as a handle. He thought of using a gingerbread man cookie cutter, and why not!  So we put it into position on top of the black Sugru, then placed the yellow over and through the legs to fully secure into position.

I was very unsure about how Sugru and the gingerbread man would keep, with it being used on a boiling pan, but well I thought that we might aswell give it a go and put this review to the test!

My Thoughts

After the pan being on boil for 30 minutes, I am surprised to say the gingerbread man was not hot at all, and the Sugru also kept it shape and was showing absolutely no signs of melting and was still very firmly in place with no movement at all. That to be honest, I was very surprised at, I personally thought it wouldn’t have stood the test of time! 10/10 marks from me.

Sugru would also make a great stocking filler.

Imagine a Christmas where broken toys fixed themselves. Or perhaps more creatively (and realistically) where kids were able to fix their own stuff and redesign things to work even better than before. One less job for you over the Christmas period and one brilliant project for them!

It even sticks to things that bend because the glue itself becomes flexible once it has cured. It’s easy to use too. Mould it like play-dough into any shape you want. You and your mini makers have up to 45 minutes to fix, make, decorate, customise and personalise. Plenty of time to fashion some jewellery, reattach Buzz Lightyear’s leg or help put up some festive lights in the tree house!

In 24 hours, it cures into a strong and durable, flexible rubber that stays stuck. Sugru’s advanced silicone technology is waterproof, heat- and cold-resistant, dishwasher-safe, saltwater-proof, UV stable, electrically insulating (up to 24 volts), shock-absorbent, wipe-clean and holds up to 2kg. It’s also removable – just in case your budding builder changes their mind.

Sugru Family-Safe, Skin-Friendly Formula is available in six seriously playful colours.

Non-toxic, no tools, no mess, no limits.

Just add imagination and have a very Merry Fix-mas!

Where Can I Buy Sugru?
