Slow Cooked Chow Mein
I made a Chow Mein last night in the slow cooker, making an alternative to the wok!
Fair to say it really did turn out amazing and just like one from a Chinese takeaway so I thought I would share this with you too!
In the slow cooker throw in :-
1 red pepper
1 yellow pepper
1 onion chopped
As many bean sprouts as you like (i just emptied the entire bag full in)
2 chicken stock cubes to make up 500ml of stock
2 cloves of garlic
a good glug of soy sauce
1 sea spoon of Chinese 5 spice
1/2 tea spoon of pepper
1/2 tea spoon of chilli powder
1 table spoon of sweetener
2 tea spoons of chopped coriander
Mini sweetcorn
Put it all on low in the slow cooker for a couple of hours, can easily be done sooner on a higher setting.
Just 30 minutes before serving add 2 nests of noodles per person, 30 minutes is perfect I thought they might need longer but 30 minutes is just right!
You could easily add your favorite meat to this dish too!
I started Slimming World back in March this year, and cooking from scratch and having the right meals I have lost 2 stone 9 pounds so far in total! I am so proud of how far I have came with the support of my friends and family.
This recipe is ‘Free’ on Slimming World so you can have as much as you like, so tuck in an enjoy!
I hope you enjoy this recipe, it really does taste just like a Chinese Chow Mein that you would order from your local Chinese, I made plenty and gave some to my neighbours, they could not believe it and actually thought I did order it in!
Let me know if you try it.
