Schleich Dinosaurs for 2018
Schleich have released a brand new dinosaur range for 2018, and wow you are in for such a treat! This new range is absolutely amazing, very realistic and high attention to detail to every part of the dinosaurs. We have received three new dinosaurs for us to review from this range, and I am so impressed. We know from our previous reviews that Schleich products are always high quality, they are great trusted brand who take time and love in creating their products. So it was no surprise that when I received these Schleich Dinosaurs that they were up to the same great standard as always.
Velociraptor
Velociraptors were likely very intelligent dinosaurs that hunted in packs. Although they were only 60 cm in height, these carnivores were able to overpower significantly larger prey. These dinosaurs reached speeds of up to 65 kilometres an hour and were capable of quick turns thanks to their stiff tails. To consume their prey, Velociraptors had at their disposal eighty sharp, crooked teeth in their flat snout, some of which 2.5 cm in length. The velociraptor is considered to have been one of the most intelligent and fastest dinosaurs. A formidable hunter. The Velociraptor had a retractable, sickle-like claw on the middle toe of each foot, measuring about 7.5 cm in length.
You can see all the features perfectly clear, all the detailing are perfect to the description and the Velociraptor also has moving jaw and moving arms making play so much more realistic, RRP £9.99.
Oviraptor
The Oviraptor lived over about 75 million years ago at the same time of the Velociraptor. The first skeleton discovered of it was lying on a nest of eggs. It was long assumed that it wished to steal the eggs. That’s why its scientific name means egg thief. Now we know that it was a brooding parent. The Oviraptor resembled a flightless bird and hunted for shellfish, mussels, and snails.
The detailing on the Oviraptor is absolutely amazing, on the back of the Oviraptor looks like feathers, and it has a rubbery feel about it and seems so realistic to what I believe an Oviraptor would have looked like. This is my favorite of the three due to its bird like features, RRP £7.99.
Tawa
The Tawa was a carnivorous dinosaur with a slender snout and long neck. Through its skeleton, scientists have been able to solve the puzzle regarding the origins of dinosaurs. They originated from South America and from there, the dinosaurs spread across the entire world. The Tawa had hollow bones. This made it very lightweight and faster than other dinosaurs, RRP £7.99.
All of the Schleich figurines are designed with great attention to detail and painted by hand. The Dinosaurs world of experiences enables children to explore the fascination of the prehistoric era with great detail in their pretend dinosaur world. Children can play with the dinosaurs and creatures whilst learning something at the same time!
We have teamed these Schleich Dinosaurs up alongside the Schleich Croco Jungle Research Station as we thought this setting would go best, you can mix and match your creatures with other Schleich sets, as a child’s imagination is endless, right!

Schleich Croco Jungle Research Station
I do remember learning about dinosaurs when I was younger out of a big book me and my sister shared. It was full of information and no doubt these would have been in it too.
Each of the Schleich Dinosaurs also comes with a little folded leaflet attached telling you the name of the dinosaur and also the facts of its time period, length, weight and type giving your child all the information they need to play.
You can find more of the Schleich range on their website here.
Our Thoughts
The new Schleich Dinosaurs range is aimed for age 5+, Grace is 4 and Jake is 7, and they play really well with these. The detailing is so fine, I believe that these products would also be fantastic use in schools when they are teaching children about dinosaurs as they really would give a child such a realistic view of the creatures compared to a cheap version you would find elsewhere, we give these Schleich Dinosaurs 10/10 as the realistic look and materials are just superb.
