Before I started I made sure I could keep a clear space for a few days so I used the dining room table which is in front of the window so ideal as this puzzle has some dark patches so the light from the window will help me decipher which parts go where.
I haven’t done an adult Jigsaw for many years, it’s always 12/24/48 pieces I do with my children so to do something which was for me was a great little escape and boy did I enjoy it!

Moving away from technology and spending hours doing this puzzle was what I needed on an afternoon and evening for some ‘me time.’

How I Did It

So to start I opened the Ravensburger Disney Fantasia Collectors Edition Jigsaw puzzle box which revealed all the pieces secured together inside a plastic sealed bag.
I opened and then started to pick out all the edge pieces, as knowing to set the rectangle shape first is the best way to start. This Jigsaw is quite hard as the pattern is the same all the way around but with different sized stars, and the background slightly darker in some areas I finally got the full shape which felt like an achievement in itself. When the outline was completed it measures 70 x 50cm.

At the top of the puzzle you can see a film reel so this was where I chose to start next,

I started working through the puzzle pieces and pulling out the ones that displayed the film reel and slowly beginning to connect these pieces together to show the full film reel of the years of Mickey.
After the film reel was completed I then thought I was best to work on finding parts of Mickey Mouse who is displayed in the center of the puzzle. It was pretty easy to find the pieces of Mickey in the box for his bright red coat standing out amongst the rest of the puzzle pieces. Mickey is standing on an icy edge so I worked my way down, to then connecting onto the edge pieces at the bottom.

On the right side of the image you can see some steps and shadows on the wall. This part proved to be very tricky trying to decipher which bits went where as this section the colors were similar from the bottom and leading up to the middle of the pattern and wondering if the shadows on the walls, where actually the shadow on the steps. Eventually it started taking shape, and its just typical that as I was doing this bit, Jake who is 6, comes over and starts connecting one piece to another, smarty pants! He stayed with me for a while and finished off this side of the puzzle with me and he was actually really chuffed with himself and kept saying ‘mam, can you believe that I finished off this side for you’

Last to do now was just the left side, this again was tricky as there are splashes of Mickey’s spell on either side of him so trying to figure out which piece went where was hard, but with the slightest hint of different colors in the backdrop helped as it was darker in some places that the other.

My Thoughts

I am pretty happy with the result as you can see, and really did enjoy this Jigsaw puzzle! Suitable for ages 12 years and up, the Ravensburger Disney Fantasia Collectors Edition Jigsaw was challenging but was really enjoyable!
