Knitcrate for March 2018 – + Voucher Code

If you are a knitter or crocheter like me you have watched lots of video s on YouTube and perhaps seen the un-boxing ones about the monthly subscription service Knitcrate and when I saw this months I gave in an ordered it!

I got two 100g / 4oz skeins of URU yarn in a fingering weight hand dyed in Bleu Barry. The yarn is 70% Superwash Merino, 20% Nylon and 10% Stellina and it’s SOOOOO PRRRRRRETTY. The colour is like  a minty green, but in some angles it looks more of a blue-green, with blue, purple and pink splashes of colour and glitter from the Stellina. With 399 yards / 364 metres on each skein I have plenty to make myself a shawl.

The yarn is so soft and squishy. I would have no problem wearing it against my skin. I don’t like yarns that are harsh or too prickly – remember the jumper you always had to wear when your when your Auntie came around! I can’t wait to wind it up on my Wool Winder and start making the shawl pattern.

Each skein of yarn is valued at $24 so £48 for the pair plus you also get two patterns with the package. This month they are a shawl pattern by Chelsea Berkompas for knitters and a pair of socks patter by Brenda Anderson for crocheters which are valued at $5 each;

The total should be $58 plus $5 shipping so $63 I paid just $20 as I had a $5 off voucher code. In Sterling it worked out at a couple of pence short of £15 and if you have ever bought hand dyed yarn you will know that £7.50 a skein is pretty reasonable.

I’ve code a $10 voucher code if you want to try a monthly package. Oh you don’t have to sign up for more than one month. You can cancel at any time by logging into your account and clicking the “Manage Subscriptions” link, then clicking “Cancel Subscription.” But it is great fun getting something so lovely and special through the post box every month.
