Harry Potter Dobble Card Game from Asmodee
The wizarding world of Harry Potter meets the smash-hit game of speedy observation – Dobble!
The UK’s number one selling game meets J.K. Rowling’s iconic wizarding world in a playful battle of speedy observation, featuring stylised imagery of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, wands, creatures, Hogwarts house crests and more?
Grace and Jake love Harry Potter and we have almost finished reading The Chamber of Secrets. I am a big Harry Potter fan myself from back many years ago queuing up waiting for the books to be released. I’m super glad that my two children have also taken a big interest in Harry Potter.
So when we received Harry Potter Dobble to review, it didn’t last very long in it’s box once they set their eyes on it as you can imagine!
How to Play Harry Potter Dobble
Can you spot the single matching magical images between the two cards? It sounds easy, yes, of course, but sometimes it is more of a challenge when you are racing against other players to find the match.
Take two cards from the top of the pile and lay them down.
Players compete with each other to find the one matching symbol between two cards. Every magical card is unique and has only one symbol in common with any other in the deck. The match can be difficult to spot as the size and positioning of the Harry Potter related symbols can vary on each card.
Once a player finds the match, they shout it out before other players!
Players must have a keen eye and lightning reactions in order to be the first to spot the matching symbol.
So here as an example, turn two cards around and it is a race to see who can spot the match first. In this instance we have Fang, which is Rubeus Hagrid’s dog.
The game is a quick playing game as you work your way through the pack of 55 cards. So many outcomes! Once the game is over, we just shuffle and re play as the amount of different possibilities is endless.
In Dobble there is always only one matching symbol between any two cards. Spot it first and you win, then draw another two.
Our Thoughts
We have had great fun with these cards, I love the images too that are presented upon them. Although cartoonised, you can still very much tell what each one represents. Why don’t you have a read of my previous review of Dobble Animals.
Harry Potter Dobble consists of 55 cards, 5 quick party games displayed within the instructions. Suitable for 2 to 8 players aged 6 to adult. Available from Amazon Website.
