Happy Galentines Day from Gel-a-Peel

Gel-A-Peel Galentines Day

Happy Galentines Day from Gel-a-Peel!

Jake and Grace have been invited by Gel-a-Peel to get creative and create their own Galentines Day card and bracelet for Valentines Day for their BFF’s, we were sent a Jelly Kit & Fuzzy Kit to take part in this.
Jake and Grace set to work as soon as we received these as they were eager to make a card and bracelet for their BFF’s as that evening we were invited to Abbie’s for a pancake day tea so this tied in perfectly. Abbie is Jake’s school friend and Grace loves playing with Abbie too and all express similar interests which is great.

Gel-a-Peel Fuzzy & Jelly Kits

Jelly Kit

WHAT IS IN THE FUZZ & JELLY BOXES?

  • 16+ design templates in each
  • 1 gel tray (sweet & bracelet templates in the Jelly Kit)
  • 3 gel tubes in each box
  • 5 designer tips
  • Clear drawing sheet
  • Cleaning tool
  • Accessories for use when making earrings/bracelets
  • Instructions
  • 2 Fuzz colours & hardward (Fuzzy Kit only)

There are 4 easy steps to make your Gel-a-Peel:-

  1. Choose a template or create your own
  2. pick one of the jelly colors and designer tip
  3. draw & wait for it to dry
  4. Peel, wear & share!

There is such a selection of choice in either of the kits its hard to choose where to begin!

First we had a choice of what we would like to make. We looked at the templates and Grace chose to make Abbie a bracelet for her Galentines Day present. After a tough choice of which bracelet to choose we got the template and clear drawing sheet and stuck both to the table using masking tape which prevents any movement whilst the designs are being made. Now we have a choice of which Gel-a-Peel colored tube to use, Grace chose pink.

There are many different designs you can choose from the templates, such as a choker necklace, bracelets, simple bracelets, and earrings or create something without a template, there really is so much choice.

There are also different tips to choose which simply screw on to you Gel-a-Peel pen to give you different effects on your designs on your template you chose. The template will suggest which pen for you to use by displaying a number next to each section. If you refer back to the instructions sheet you will see you will have a choice of Round Tip, Star Tip, Rake Tip, Spike Effect and Rainbow Effect styles.

Grace chose to make a bracelet using her pink tube following the design on the template. After she had finished her design with a bit of guided help from me, her bracelet was finished. We also added on some of the pink fuzz by dipping the brush into it and tapping it over the bracelet giving it a brilliant fuzzy effect.

The templates are really easy to follow, just make sure you draw your lines thick enough so there wont be breaking of your jewellery. If you happen to break a piece you have made, to repair it all you need to do is reapply gel over the broken section and wait for it to dry, simple!

As we waited for the bracelet to dry Grace and Jake then went on to create their Galentines Day card. Jake chose a blue piece of card as this is Abbies’ favorite color and knew she would like it, he first began using the blue Gel-a-Peel tube and created a heart on the front. Whilst the gel was still wet, he then used the blue Fuzz and tapped it over the heart to give it a fuzzy feeling.

Next he continued to write Abbies’ name using the many different colours of the Gel-a-Peel tubes. He kept the same tip but rotated use of each tube to give his writing a rainbow effect. He is was really proud of his work and inside he wrote to if she will be his Valentine.

Grace then made her card, she asked if she could make one for me and if I would be her Galentine and kissed my hand. This was so sweet! She also wanted to make a heart on the front so I used a template heart to draw around in pencil for her so she had a guideline to start with. She used the pink Gel-a-Peel pen to draw around the heart and colour in and used the Teddy Jellies she made from the Gel Tray to stick on the bottom.

Supplied in the Jelly Kit is also a gel tray which has many ‘sweet treats’ & two bracelet designs on it. Using the Round Tip we needed to completely fill in the shapes we wanted to use. When you have filled it check underneath to make sure there are no air bubbles. If there are air bubbles you use the cleaning tool to push the gel into this place.

Jake also used the Gel Tray bracelet shape to use this for Abbie’s bracelet.
After the jelly shapes & bracelets are completely dry, loosen the edges with the cleaning tool and peel them out. All you need to do now is choose one of the designs your have made and with a dollop of gel on the sweet treat, press on one of your designs to secure into place.

All you need to do now is wait for your design to dry before you wear it. Why not make another one whilst you wait!
I really like this Gel Tray as there is a wide selection of sweet treats to use and you can choose your colour Gel-a-Peel pen too. After taking them out the gel tray we are left with a shiny sweet effect.

Later in the afternoon we went to Abbie’s house for pancakes and gave her the Gel-a-Peel card and bracelet. She was thrilled to bits and absolutely loves that she has her very own bracelet that has been hand-made just for her which she really appreciated.

Our thoughts

We love Gel-a-Peel and have previous reviewed the Glow in the Dark Kit, Pearly Pastel Kit, Colour Change Kit, 2-Tone Kit & Fasion Station. Gel-a-Peel is a great crafting activity to do as a family and it filled a great part of our day this half term.

Gel-a-Peel is aimed at age 8+, but the amount of fun that we have had creating I would say it can be used younger with help, Grace is 4 and it does suit her perfect just with a bit of help on some of the lines. Whereas Jake is 7 and can do all of this independently.

You can purchase the Jelly Kit and Fuzzy Kit from Amazon.
