Grill in the Park – Marriott Hotel Worsley Park Review

Grill in the Park – Marriott Hotel Worsley Park

We recently spent a lovely evening at the Grill in the Park at Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club, Manchester.

As you know Granddad Al & myself celebrated our 28th Wedding Anniversary recently and we had planned to go out with friends that weekend. Unfortunately I wasn’t to well so we had to cancel. I really felt sad at not being able to properly celebrate our milestone.  Luckily we was invited to try out the new Grill in the Park menu the following Thursday so we decided to take that opportunity to make it our night.

The Grill in the Park has recently been refurbished and now has a sleek contemporary feel.

The Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club was so easy to find. it was literally just five minutes from junction 13 on the M60. We had never been before but found it very quickly.  There was plenty of parking spaces, but sadly no signs telling us where the disabled parking was. (This, I believe, is now been made clearer).

We arrived a little early for our meal so took the opportunity to sit outside in the courtyard area where a calypso band was just setting up, so we sat relaxing and listening to them for about 10 minutes or so.

When we got to our designated table, Johnathon, the Grill in the Park representative who was looking after us, made sure we was settled and asking if we would like a drink which was great service with me being unable to walk to good.

The menu’s were passed out and we made our selection. You can see the menu we chose from here

There was a really good choice, including some vegetarian options too.

Entertainment

Entertainment was in the form of local singer Jack Woodward who provided some cool unobtrusive tunes, and I actually think it added a really nice atmosphere to the evening, you always need a bit of background music especially playing songs you know.

Whilst our food was being prepared we were treated to a cocktail making experience with Adam. We learned all about the Mexican Elbow! Otherwise known as a lemon or lime squeezer. They showed us how to make a Mojito and a Cosmopolitan. It was really interesting. Granddad Al even had a go at making one.

Starters

The food arrived and was exquisitely presented. For starter Granddad Al chose the Grilled King Prawns and I chose the Smoked Garlic Bread. The Grilled Prawns were done very well, and the Garlic Bread literally melted in my mouth and had just the right amount of garlic on for me, I do like a lot of garlic!

Main Course

For the main course Granddad Al thought he would see how well they could cook a steak and asked for it to be cooked medium rare. It arrived with thick chunky chips, watercress, a flat cap mushroom, roasted tomato, pepper sauce and a serving of onion rings. He was very happy with his choice and there wasn’t anything left on his plate!

I asked for the Seven Brothers Pale Ale Battered Fish and Chips. I’ve had fish and chips in alot of places but this is by far the best I have ever had. It wasn’t greasy in the slightest. Served with chips and crushed peas. My only problem with it was the paper under the fish. It kept ripping as I went through the dish.

And now for the Desserts!

Desserts, Desserts, Desserts! I love desserts and spent a lot of time deliberating over my choice, finally settling on the Chocolate Pot. Everything on my slate garden was edible bar the watering can, which held a cheese cake, the chocolate pot had cherries in the bottom under a layer of chocolate mousse. Everyone at our table was taking pictures of it as it was so cute. The little apples where covered in sweet toffee, just like miniature toffee apples. Yes I ate everything and I didn’t bother with the calorie count!

Everything but the Watering Can is edible!

Granddad Al chose the Bread and Butter Pudding. It was presented on a slate with custard and a sliced strawberry. Again there was nothing left at the end of our meal.

We had a lovely evening out with some good company in the shape of other North West bloggers and would recommend The Grill in the Park at the Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club. We’ve already told some of our friends about it and Mummy M is having her works Christmas party there and I know they will have a fantastic time.

Have you been anywhere for a meal and could recommend it to us all, do tell?
