Flower Loom Review

Grandad Al has bought me a new crafting toy. It’s my new Flower Loom.  It’s great fun and so easy to use.

The flower loom comes with various configurations of attachments, large square, hexagon, small square, centre post, then three sizes of circles in the pink, the base that all the attachments fit into and a yarn needle. Nine pieces all together .

I’ve been having a little play this afternoon. Even though there is a clear instruction leaflet, I started out by watching a couple of video’s on YouTube.  I didn’t take a note of which ones sadly, but there is alot of them out there to watch. I used the hexagon shape for the two smaller flowers.

How to Make a Flower

The flowers are so easy to make, you just wind the wool around the pegs in a clock wise direction. Then adding a contrast colour, thread the yarn needle and push it up from the bottom through the centre of your design and through the wool to come out at the bottom, this makes the centre of the flower.

You could also make earrings from the shapes.

I decided that one round of yarn wasn’t a thick enough flower so I doubled up on each post to make the flowers fuller and more substantial as the wool I used was quite thin maybe 4 ply.  It was just from a bag I have with all those little ball scraps that can be left over from projects.  I have been dying to use them on something and now I have finally found something fun.

It’s such a great new toy for me as I love making flowers in different way. You can read about my crochet roses flowers here. I’ve used the crochet roses on as tea cosy for Mum, a couple of cardigans.

This would make a perfect craft for children during the holidays from school.  You can get it on Amazon starting from £2.67 with FREE delivery

Be a great one to keep the children busy on those wet afternoons, or even sat in the garden. You can use ribbon to make the flowers too, not tried it yet, but I think it would make lovely flowers. Jane x
