Crochet Diamond Baby Afghan Blanket

You may remember my post about the blanket or afghan I was making last year, well I’ve finally finished it. I know it took me a lot longer than expected, but at least I’ve finished it.

I didn’t like the border that came with the pattern so I added a little shell border to complete the pattern,  It is just a five double crochet shells. I first did a round of shells with three double crochet, before adding the last row of five double crochet shells. crochet diamond baby blanket afghan Family Clan

This was one of the things that held me up as I kept trying different borders and I just couldn’t find one that I liked. Some where too small, others over complicated and fussy, in the end I just settled for a shell stitch as I didn’t want one that would detract from the diamond pattern.

I’m quite pleased with how the blanket turned out. I just need to wash it and block it now.  I have to admit I’ve never blocked my work before, I usually make clothing so this will be a challenge. Luckily I have the room to spread it out as it measures 42 inches by 38 inches.

I’m in the process of making knitting another baby blanket, but more of that soon. Yes, our family is going to grow, we are going to have a new little member soon, and this time I don’t mean fish. So excited.

Have you ever made a baby blanket? How did it turn out?
