Celebrating Safer Sleep Week with Baby Annabell and The Lullaby Trust
Baby Annabell – the UK’s number one selling large doll brand for more than 14 years – has partnered with charity The Lullaby Trust and Bright Horizons nurseries to spread awareness for Safer Sleep Week.
Taking place from 12 to 18 March, Safer Sleep Week will see Baby Annabell hosting a series of Pyjama Day fundraising events at Bright Horizons nurseries across the UK, with all proceeds raised being donated to The Lullaby Trust. The events are a celebration of children embracing their imagination through play, whilst raising vital funds and educating families on the importance of safer sleep.
On the day of each event, children will attend nursery dressed in pyjamas and ready for a day of excitement. Fun activities will include playtime with My First Baby Annabell and My First Baby Annabell Brother dolls, storytelling, poems, arts and crafts, bake sales, and challenging little ones to a sponsored sleep! Parents will also be given information to take home with advice on how to make safer sleep decisions for their children.
Launched in 2015, Safer Sleep Week is The Lullaby Trust’s national awareness campaign targeting families throughout the UK, as well as anyone looking after a young baby. The campaign aims to raise awareness of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and equip parents with proven steps on how to reduce the chance of SIDS occurring.
Safer Sleeping Tips
The Lullaby Trust’s top tips for safer sleep include –
- Always put your baby on their back for every sleep, day and night
- The safest place for a baby to sleep is in a separate cot or Moses basket in the same room as the parent
- Make sure the baby’s room is a comfortable temperature – not too hot or cold
- Avoid smoking during pregnancy or around your baby
- Keep the cot clear of items and ensure bedding is tightly tucked in
Marian Davis, Marketing Manager for Zapf Creation’s Baby Annabell said: “Baby Annabell aims to encourage learning and development through imaginative play. We are looking forward to engaging with families throughout the UK to spread awareness for such a worthwhile and important campaign as The Lullaby Trust’s Safer Sleep Week.”
With a soft body and small size, My First Baby Annabell and My First Baby Annabell Brother are the perfect companion for very young children. Just like a real baby, the dolls can open and close their eyes, gently encouraging children from the age of one to engage in role play and providing initial stimuli for developing key nurturing and social skills.
The Pyjama Day events will take place with preschool classes at Bright Horizons nurseries in Didsbury, Manchester; Tunbridge Wells, Kent; and Millhouses, Sheffield.
My First Baby Annabell doll (RRP £19.99) is available from all good toy stores. For ages 1+
