Tomorrow is the Day – Panic

D-DAY

Well tomorrow is D-day for me. I have to be at the hospital for 7:30am to get all prepared for my next knee operation. I am not looking forward to it one bit. That’s the trouble with already having it done, I know how painful it is going to be.

I think it is more the being knocked out that I don’t like. Just really don’t like not being in control.
I’m having an operation called an Arthroscopy, basically sorting out my left knee which is swollen & soArthroscopy Day
painful at the moment.  I had the same operation, on the same knee, just 18 months ago, but they obviously didn’t scrape enough nasty bits of arthritis & things off my bone.  If it doesn’t work this time I’ll have to have a new knee fitted, something I’m trying to avoid by having an arthroscopy again.
So I’m probably going to be AWOL for a few days whilst I recover mentally as well as painfully.
Just phoned the hospital & they are unsure whether or not I should take my MST in the morning so don’t want to go into withdrawal symptoms, it’s a horrible feeling, so I’m going to make sure I see the anesthetist as soon as I can. I take quite a high dose of morphine, so important they really look at it.
I’m really hoping to lose my crutches, as much as they have been useful for over three years. I’ve had enough of them now.  It will also be nice to give my shoulders & wrists a rest as they seem to take the brunt of the hit when I use my crutches.  I’m looking forward to being to hold an umbrella or a cup whilst walking, things we take for granted that I haven’t been able to do for so long. It’s just little thing in life that I want.
Been a bit down this week to, not surprising with this hanging over my head, hopefully I’ll be able to drag myself out of it in the near future.  Had a bit of good news yesterday Mummy C & Daddy G along with Baby A, might be over for a visit in May, so that’s my next goal I’m aiming for, hopefully crutchless.
Well better go & pack my bag, unless someone would like to swap places with me?
Have a fun weekend
