We haven’t given away a scarf in a while and I know you all love this gorgeous pink and black cat print one. Haven’t got a particular reason for doing one, but just feeling generous. Continue reading »
Mother’s Day is a special day for all Mum’s but my Mum, Nanna Doll, is our guide in all we do, we wouldn’t be here & be what we are with out Nanna Doll. She’ll be 85 in July, so time for a party I think.
Me I’m off to the ballet with Granddad Al to see Swan Lake – so excited!
If your Mum is still with us make sure you tell her you love her & how special she is to you. We all owe so much to our Mum’s.
Have a lovely day to all Mum’s where ever you are.
Going to a funeral of a good friend tomorrow, can’t believe he has gone so young. It’s going to be hard to say Goodbye.
We used to play a lot of poker on line & ended up helping run a major poker forum, we had a fabulous few meet ups in the Vegas of the North, Blackpool. One of the stars of these meets was “K00lken” & his lovely wife “Mrs K00lken” other wise known as Ken & Celine.
He was the life & soul of any party, the first time we met, he walked into the Casino wearing blue flashing glasses & multi-coloured flashing fingers. Hard to not laugh at, right! Continue reading »
Well I will be going under the knife again in March to hopefully once & for all sort out my knee, as you may know I had a knee arthroscopy in July 2014, but although we though it had initially worked, it hadn’t. You can read more about that here. They fixed a tear in the minus around my knee, but sadly the scraping of the knee joints didn’t work. Continue reading »
Jake won another award from school today for doing excellent maths, he picked two tractors as his prize. Here they are getting ready to coral the cattle. We are so proud of how he’s doing in school, he really enjoys going.
As a parent one of our biggest fears is that our baby/child stops breathing. yet most parents don’t know how to administer CPR to their baby or young children. St John Ambulance have issued these statistics:
• An unconscious and not breathing child is the most frightening scenario for three out of four parents (74%)
• Yet only one in four parents (26%) would know how to correctly administer baby CPR
• Most parents who know first aid (62%) learnt it through a workplace first aid course – yet baby CPR is different to adult CPR (for instance, you need to cover the baby’s nose and mouth when doing puffs, and you use two fingers to give pumps to the chest)
• Only one in four (26%) parents have learnt first aid specifically for babies
They have released this video, with a song to help you to remember ,should the need arise, hopefully we will never have to use it but better safe than sorry.
I have to admit to not knowing how to do this, but after watching the video a couple of times I feel I’ve got it.
To celebrate the campaign, we’re putting on special baby first aid courses for parents, carers, and parents-to-be for just £25 + VAT. To find your nearest course, or watch more first aid videos and advice. You can find information about the course here.
This follows on from last years “The Chokeables” campaign, that showed parents how to help a choking baby or young child.
Over 40% of parents told the St. John Ambulance that they themselves have witnessed their own baby choke and when they were quizzed on the first aid & found that almost four-fifths didn’t know what to do in this situation.
St John Abmulance said “We know parents have their hands full, so we’ve made a short memorable video, The Chokeables – featuring the voices of David Walliams, David Mitchell, Johnny Vegas and Sir John Hurt – that shows people how to help a choking baby.”
You can also download FREE the St John Ambulance first aid poster for parents here
Hopefully none of us will ever have to put this into practice, but it’s better to have the knowledge just in case.
Please share this page, it might just save a life!
Granddad Al has never had a smartphone, he’s quite happy with his £9.99 analogue phone, you should see him typing never mind texting! I get random letters when he texts as he often hits the send button before he’s actually wrote anything legible. He would not answer yes to any in the list below. Continue reading »
