David Walliams – The First Hippo on the Moon Review

David Walliams

When I saw this new David Walliams book was available for us to review I knew it was for us. The book arrived yesterday morning & Jake was all for sitting down & reading it then, but I convinced him to wait until bedtime.

The first Hippo on the Moon

Last night we read the story which was sent to us for a review. Well what can I say! My son loved it! “The first Hippo on the Moon”
What a fantastic book, starts with hippo number 1, Hercules Waldorf-Franklin III and Sheila wanting to be the first hippo on the moon, they make their rockets and the best part for my son was 3…2….1…. blast offfff!

I loved the story too, and reading to Jake was great and the way the words were presented in the book were great as the words got bigger so I sounded louder, got him really into the book. He loved it.

The illustrations, by Tony Ross, are lovely too and the way sentences were constructed on to the page made it more exciting for us i.e reading around in a circle for the blasts of the asteroid.

EDIT:  Jake loved this book so much, we read it again tonight,  that is recommendation indeed, as he knows which books he loves to repeat & which he doesn’t.
