Book Review – A BRICKLAYER’S TALES author Gary Troia

I was lucky enough to win a personalised autographed paperback copy of this book from Gary Troia, it is a collection of ten tales & is a very quick reading book. I finished it in under an hour, but I do read fast!

The book has from page 3 to 104 full of the stories, they loosely revolve around bricklaying, booze & drugs.

The stories are from viewed from the authors point of view in the stories.  Starting with My Grandfathers Shed which is about a lads time spent with his aging Grandfather in his Shed (that took a bit of thinking!) how Grandfather could make things from plans & how they magically appeared from the tools on his bench.  Its a touching heart warming story, that I could relate to.

One of the stories, What I did in my Summer Holidays in 1000 words, is about a group of lads deciding to burn the school down so they don’t have to go back, very weirdly I read this on Sunday evening & awoke to news that a school near where I grew up had been set ablaze & was totally gutted,  strange!

But back to the book, it was ok for a quick read book, but I’m not really into books about alcohol & drugs.  For what it was it was OK

The book can be purchased in paperback from Amazon

I was lucky enough to win a personalised autographed copy of this book, but my view is honest & my own
